CNC Plasma Cutting
What is CNC Plasma Cutting?
CNC plasma cutting is a metal fabrication process that is used to create high precision cuts in electrically conductive metals, making it a cost-effective option for cutting parts with complex designs. In order to cut through metal, plasma cutting uses ionized gases that are heated to temperatures above 20,000 degrees Celsius and are ejected under high pressure to melt the material and to remove material from the cut.

The CNC Cutting Process
Instead of using mechanical cutting, the CNC plasma cutting process uses heat to melt metal. This is done by sending an electric arc through a gas—argon, nitrogen, air, oxygen, or hydrogen—that then passes through a constricted opening which causes the gas to squeeze through it at a high speed, forming plasma. The plasma cutter is then applied to the workpiece to create the desired cuts.
